Most of the time, it's quite difficult to tell my mallard visitors apart. But, Romeo and Juliette are different. For the past few years, they have been rendezvousing on my front lawn. I know it's them because they aren't afraid of me and they seem to know all the special places where I hide their cracked corn. When Juliette begins sitting on her nest - which I am never able to find - Romeo patiently waits for her return each afternoon.

I have been very privileged these last two summers for Juliette has decided to share her joy with me. She almost seems to wait for me to come outside and then she quickly marches her little ducklings right in front of me. Then, down to the creek they all go where the ducklings can walk down my duck ramp into the water. It's so much easier than trying to get the babies to jump off the dock. And, my duck ramp even has cleats, for better traction!
